Hey Happy Bookworms!
So, I got a new theme for the website! What do you guys think? I like the change-up, new year, new blog – right?
Now, this blog is about the books I got for Christmas and my birthday, which ones I’m looking forward too and even some reviews of the ones I’ve finished (already, I know! But I got some REALLY good books this year!)
- The School for good and evil: handbook • Soman Chainani • buy here • read
The SGE handbook is a lovely addition to the series, you don’t HAVE to read this book if you’re reading the series but it’s a nice filler as we wait for the 4th book to come out (January 11th, eek!) and hints at what’s going to happen (especially between Sophie and Hort!). The book is in full colour with beautiful illustrations and is a nice book to have around and flick through, as it’s not a chapter book but a book with lots of different sections that are only a couple of pages long.
- Eliza Rose • Lucy Worsley • buy here • To be read
I read ‘My name is Victoria’ by Lucy Worsley (see it here) and enjoyed it, so I really wanted to read this book. Lucy Worsley is a historian and this book is historical fiction, like ‘My name is Victoria’. The blurb says that it’s about living as a noble lady, who will be set up with a husband by her parents, in the time of Henry the Eight. Can’t wait to start it!
- Moonrise • Sarah Crossan • buy here • read
I’ve read lots of books by Sarah Crossan and especially love her books that are formatted like ‘Moonrise’ is (short chapters, in the format of almost poems). I loved the story, it was beautifully written and thought-provoking. It’s about this boy whose brother is in death row for murdering a police officer, even though he swears he didn’t do it. I would 100% recommend this book to anyone!
- The start of me and you • Emery Lord • buy here • To be read
One of my best friends gave me this book for my birthday, so I’m excited to read it and see what I think. The blurb says that Paige’s first boyfriend died in a swimming accident and now she’s decided it’s time to join the real world again. I hope I like it!
- The Giver • Lois Lowry • buy here • reading
I started reading this but am only about 4 chapters in and already it seems really good! I kinda get a divergent feel from it because when you become a certain age the Elders give you a job (kind of like how you get tested for a faction in divergent). As you age up there’s a ceremony and you get or loose something (Eg: when you’re 8 you get a bicycle). I don’t think I explained that very well! Anyway, I’ll explain better when I finish!
- Boy watching (Book 1) • Chloe Bennet • buy here • reading
This book is about a group of friends that CAN NOT figure boys out at all, so they figure out a plan to create a spreadsheet that they’ll fill in, so that they can decide who the right boy is for each of them. When they see a boy doing something, they’ll award him points in different categories. While all this is going on, our main character, Chloe also has to deal with her horrible step dad, the mean girls and even some dodgy hair dye!
- The Testing • Joelle Charbonneau • buy here • To be read
I’m honestly not sure about this book…but we’ll see. It says it’s about Cia Vale, who is chosen to be a candidate for the testing, the test is to be part of the elite group that is chosen to rebuild the planet after a devastating war. Again, we’ll see…
What books did you get for Christmas? Are you excited to read them or not?
Bye!

I’m currently on your website and I love how the olive green and royal purple look together. The Start Of Me And You sounds like a great book and same with The Testing – I’ll def look for those.
