Book Update: October

Hey Happy Bookworms!!

I’m currently on Holiday! So this is a scheduled post. Enjoy… ๐Ÿ™‚

READ:

  • The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas โ€ข Buy here

So, with the movie coming out and it’s great reviews I decided to read this and it was really good!! Great characters, great story and the concept of racism was really well handled. The ending was also really good, if it’d been some stupid happy ending where everything was perfect it would have made the whole story pointless. My friend and I want to go see the movie so I’ve lent her my copy to read before it comes out, so super excited for that! But really great book to learn more about racism from different age groups, people of different social backgrounds, and different ethnicities.

  • Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard โ€ข Buy here

This was SUCH a fabulous book! So dark and twisty, like the author goes crazy with the characters and their choices.  The world was so sad and moving ๐Ÿ˜ฆ – ugh! everything  was just crazy! It’s basically about this girl who has red blood (So the poor side) who gets mixed up with silver blood (the rich side) and has to adapt to a new life in the castle, with silver royalty. A bit of the selection with the whole from rags to riches thing.

  • Paper Butterflies by Lisa Heathfield โ€ข Buy here

This is such a sad book! I literally had to blink back tears at the end! I think I’ve got a post coming up about this (I mean, I still need to write it but….). Anyway it’s a really sad story about a girl who gets abused by her step-mum, it’s a really crazy form of abuse that I’d never heard of before, so that was kind of interesting.

READING:

  • Still reading How not to disappear, still boring
  • And I’ve now started the knife of never letting go so that’s kinda different, something I wouldn’t really have picked for myself.

What are you reading right now? Anyone else planning to see The Hate You Give?

Bye!

I havenโ€™t read any of these books you mentioned, actually! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ’š we have different tastes in books, apparently ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ (iโ€™m a highly emotional person so if thereโ€™s one sad scene in a book, much less the book itself being sad, Iโ€™m down for the count haha)
Right now, I want to begin reading a cool biography I got at a thrift store recently … but itโ€™s quite a long book so I keep putting it off haha

The Hate U Give is an amazing book, isnโ€™t it?! ๐Ÿ’œ The Red Queen series (it is a series, right?!) sounds so good – itโ€™s now on my TBR list! Thanks & great post, Autumn x
