Hey Happy bookworms!
Welcome back to El being really late in posting her tags!
This is from back in February from the lovely Bayance! I mean, we all know who she is so do we even need the link? Anyway, she’s lovely so shout out to the grandma of the blogosphere! *Woop Woop!*
I’m currently typing this while doing my nails *multitasking god over here* BECAUSE IT’S THE END OF SCHOOL TOMORROW! Omg, guys, the time has finally come & I am SO happy! 😄
How many books are too many in a series?
This is one of my book pet peeves – when the series stretches on & on.
It really does depend on the series though, some series need more books and some need less. I just feel like, as long as the author is continuing the story in a purposeful way & not just adding lots of unnecessary bits then it’s all good.
How do you feel about cliff-hangers?
GIVE ME THE NEXT BOOK NOW.
Hardback or paperback?
Paperbacks all the way – pretty & functional!
Favourite book?
Who can guess? Seriously, y’all better get this! *drumroll pls*
The swan kingdom by Zoë Marriott!
Obviously, that book’s my home.
Least favourite book?
This is such a hard question! I just don’t really remember the bad ones so much. I’m gonna have to go with a book I finished recently *Block your ears Sunshine* What I Couldn’t Tell You by Faye Bird – it’s just, the story was boring & then I didn’t like the characters at all (Which sucks because normally characters save books for me)
Love Triangle… Yes or No?
Yeah, I’ll take a good love triangle. Especially if it’s done well, they can be SO good!
The most recent book you couldn’t finish?
Y’all know me – I don’t DNF 🙂
A book you’re currently reading?
I was talking to Lais @ the bookish skies about this & I always think it should be ‘The opposite of always’ instead of just ‘opposite of always’.
The last book you recommended to someone?
Um…I think it was code name Verity to Vaishnavi @ Written in stars.
Oldest book you’ve read (based on publication date)?
Apparently it’s the Handmaid’s tale, published in 1996.
Newest book you’ve read (based on publication date)?
Published on the 27th of June.
Favourite author?
Right now, I’m saying it’s Juno Dawson – I haven’t read most of her books but the 2 I’ve read have been so incredible gritty & real and I love contemporaries like that.
Buying books or borrowing them?
Buying! Just because you get to keep the lovely books afterwards *goes to stroke collection*
A book you dislike that everyone else loves?
Omg guys don’t hate me! I don’t dislike the raven boys, I just never really got into it & just felt like it wasn’t anything special? *I’ll stop digging my own hole*
Bookmarks or dog-ears?
Bookmarks – I don’t like dog-earing 🐶
A book you can reread over and over?
*I’ll say no more*
Can you read while listening to music?
No? I mean, I think I’d just find it distracting but I can’t remember ever doing it.
Multiple POVs or one POV?
Multiple POVs ONLY if done REALLY well, otherwise it’s just really annoying but it can add a lot if done well.
Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days on average?
Multiple days – I don’t think I could read a standard book in 1 day!
And now, for question 20! – Who do you want to tag?
- Adi (Make sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom of this post)
- Lais
- A few chapters til love
- Vaishnavi (Why have I never been on your website before? It’s beautiful!)
Thank you all so much for reading! Please come & rejoice with me in the comments about the end of school! 🎉
AND NOW A HUGE BIG SHOUT OUT TO ADI BECAUSE SHE’S A SWEET & LOVELY HUMAN THAT SHOUTED ME OUT A BUNCH 💕💕
Hey El ❤️
Amber here! Aw this tag is so nice. I have read none of the books you mentioned, but I love your answers ❤ Apparently the Raven Boys is super popular but I've never read it…?
Also it's got to be paperback, they are so much prettier and nicer, I totally agree ❤️
Also how do people dog-ear books? I really don't understand, even if you just slip in a bit of ripped off newspaper, it sill does the job!! 🙂
And is it bad I didn't know what your favourite book is? I'm such a bad blogging bestie -_-
I'm so sorry I haven't been active on your blog – i took an unexpected, unannounced hiatus that put me back in schedule by 2 months which is not good ;o
Hope all is well! How's school? How's life? Tell me everything!! x
Amber xx
ps. AND OMG CLIFFHANGERS ARE JUST FIVHBIHFI especially when it's like a year til the next book comes out ;o

I just didn’t click with the raven boys, I read it before I was introduced to all the hype so I didn’t realise that I’d have such an unpopular opinion! But I just thought it was alright – not bad but not my favourite.
I really don’t know! I even used to fold up a tissue & use that if I didn’t have a bookmark to hand & I always carried bookmarks in my bag for school 😂
That’s not bad – I actually don’t know yours – what is it? 💕
I get it – I’m really feeling the pressure at the moment, the beginning of school means there’s so much going on & I’m starting my GCSEs so I’ve got so much homework to do! 😣 It’s hard finding the time to read so I’m cramming it in on weekends! 😂
How’s everything at your end? 💖

okay, i’m a bit late, but i’M SO HAPPY YOU’RE DONE WITH SCHOOL! yay! excited for you to have a break for the next weeks! and thank you sososo much for tagging me!
and yes now that the both of us have finished opposite of always, i think we can still say that it should be THE opposite of always, hahah.
code name verity really sounds like a beautiful book and one that i’ve meaning to read since forever, so i should probably get my life together and do it already!
i am also super surprised you disliked the raven cycle, though i do understand it’s not for everyone. it’s one series that i’m sometimes scared to re-read, because i feel like if i do, i won’t like it as much as i did the first time around. i can definitely see it’s a book i was mostly influenced by the hype, so i’m kinda cautious about it, though i do love and have re-read the 2nd book multiple times, i’m not as confident i’ll love the rest of the series as much. so, yeah, i can totally see where you’re coming from!
once again, thank you so much for tagging me, el! can’t wait to answer it! 😊

I KNOWWWWWW! I’ve been sleeping & reading & occasionally my dad drags me out of the house but it’s been bliss!
You really have to read code name verity – it was such an incredible book that I really wasn’t expecting to like but did? But hey, sometimes the best books are like that!
I know! It’s kinda sad because everyone loves it so much and like, I wanna get in on the hype! Oh well, sometimes things just aren’t meant to be 🤷♀️
No problem – can’t wait to hear what you answer! 💕

This is a really great post!💓
Okay WAIT I always thought it was “The Opposite of Always,” oops. I guess I never paid too much attention, and it just flows better with the “the.” Ha, I think I’m always going to call it that in my head because it just seems right! What do you think of it so far? I’m hoping to read it as soon as possible~ my library didn’t have it, so I thought it would be a while, but I recently found out that one of my irl friends has it so I’m hoping to borrow it. Happy reading! 🙂

I know right! It sounds so wrong without the ‘the’! *launches a petition to get it changed*
I just finished it & it was so sweet & funny, a slightly…interesting ending but definitely a great read!

Ohh.. I love the questions in this tag and I was tagged to do it a while ago but I’m always late at doing them as well!!
You are so right about series length– if it feels long for no other point then just to be long it can be tiring. Each books need to add something to a series!!
Yep.. if a book ends in a cliffhanger– I need the next one ASAP!! It is a brilliant tactic!! 😂
I definitely prefer to buy all the books instead of borrow them so I can stroke them anytime I want as well!! 😂
Bookmarks over dog-earing always! 😂
Great tag– I loved reading your answers!! ❤

Thank youuuuuu!!
What do you mean? Paperbacks are the best!
I’m liking opposite of always so far, it’s really sweet & funny but I haven’t really read enough to know since I’ve just been introduced to the main plot point so we’ll see! Again, thank youuuuuuuu! 💕💕

aaa, I love thisss. thanks for the shout-out, I could say the same to u too 💙 💙 💙 code name verity is happily (and cozily) sitting in my lil’ book wagon. I got it a.s.a.p. to your recommendation! I soooo want to read “the handmaid’s tale” and YES, I’m one of those weird people who is abs. in love with dystopiasss 😆 how’d you like it? and OK OK OK I *SO* AGREE WITH THE ‘THE’. the book title sounds kinda lonely without it, and though I know we prob. *shouldn’t* use ‘the’ ALL the time, it’s kinda inevitable!
aaa, congrats on your end of school! *sighs* and here mine is almost coming to an end… d’you have any plans? I’m from one of those boring families who *never* travel, but this year we’re going to kauai *rejoices* and I’m sooo down. I’m also like, baffled that people in college have vacations spanning from may 1st to august 20th (it’s a thing?? apparently?) ANYWAY. enjoy your break :))
p.s. the swan kingdom is heading straight to t.b.r.

Oh my gosh, I loved this comment!
I’m so glad you’ve got code name verity & that you put the swan kingdom on your TBR (I guess I’m just a very inspiring book blogger *hair flicks*)
The handmaid’s tale is SO good – it’s such an interesting book about society! There’s also a graphic novel version out now that I really want to read.
I KNOW! ‘The’ is great, it’s just always there to help you with your needs!
AHHHHH OMG I’M SO HAPPY (and exhausted) I can’t wait for all my lie ins! We’re going to a couple of places, we’re staying just outside of Venice for a bit which I’m so looking forward to!
Yayyyyy! Have fun 🙂
And, do they really?! I guess they have shorter other holidays? Or they just spend so much time on essays & stuff? I’d honestly rather have a normal length summer but more time the rest of the year than just have a really long summer 😂

Awesome post as always, El! 💕 Agreed – there’s no way I could listen to music while I read 😂

Thank you! ☺️
I know! Do people actually do that?

You’re welcome!
Eh, maybe instrumental. But then you’d have to pick instrumental music that matched the time period/theme of your book 😎
