Series I wanted to read this year – did I do it?! (Ft. me being sassy πŸ’β€β™€οΈ)

Hey Happy Bookworms!

That title is just πŸ˜‚ I never really do blogger-y titles but maybe I should have more fun with them…

So the start of recap posts! It happens every year so don’t act surprised (no on was but whatever…) I did a series I want to read this year at the start of the year (wow – what an innovative idea) actually it was March but same thing & now we’re seeing if I failed or not *woooo* I’m in a really sarcastic mood I’m not sure why and I’m sorry

Series I want to read this year

  • Caraval

Starting off on a bit of a bad one – I did accomplish this one this year (well, the first one) & was massively underwhelmed, which sucked because I was really looking forward to it 😦

  • The Selection

A re-read! I did do this & really enjoyed it – it was so trashy but in the best way possible, I really see what people mean when they say it’s like reality TV in book form πŸ˜‚

  • Harry Potter

Guyyyyyssss I got 3 done – does that count?! Can I say I did well?! The first 3 are the short ones though πŸ˜‚ I fully intend to finish the series in the new year (2020, whathowwhenwherewhy?!)

  • The Lunar Chronicles

I LOVED the lunar chronicles! I’ve still got to read winter but it’s on my Christmas list so hopefully I can properly check this off soon (and maybe even before January so it’ll still count)

  • The One Dollar Horse

I didn’t do a reread of this this year but I talked to so many people about it & you’ve all got me IN THE MOOD. So this is definitely in the cards for next year. (we all know I’m not a fan of rereads so I can only handle them in small doses)

  • The Hunger Games

I read the whole series! My Grandma very kindly brought them for me when she saw I wanted to read them (love you Grandma πŸ’–) I enjoyed them but they’re definitely not a literary masterpiece, I understand why people got obsessed with them when they first came out though but now YA has just moved on so much.

  • Shatter Me

In my original post I said: “This is a new addition to my TBR list which I should not be reading because I should be trying to tackle older books” and true to from – I didn’t read it! I still want to read this series but it’s definitely moved down on my priority list. Does anyone else get that when they first TBR a book you really want to read it & then the longer you leave it, the less & less you want to read it? Which is really counterintuitive, but what else is new?

Hope you enjoyed this pretty short & snarky post (please tell me you read it in a voice with an ATTITUDE)

Opinions on the books/series? I actually did way better than I thought I would so yay me!

You know, I’m just your friendly neighbourhood bookworm πŸ˜†
I know what you mean though, a lot of these are the typical YA book blogger books that apparently everyone except me have read πŸ˜‚
& yesssssss! I hope you love the lunar chronicles! Marissa Meyer has also written a book called heartless which is also a fairytale retelling but I like it more than the whole lunar chronicles & it’s like one of my favourite books so that’s one to look out for too! πŸ’•

Exactly! Well, the first time I read it I was young so I thought it was a lot cooler than I do now πŸ˜‚ but when I reread it it’s so bad BUT SO GOOD!
I really need to get round to shatter me in 2020! 🀞

I’m so sorry you didn’t like Caraval, I’m heard a few mixed things but mostly good!! I still can’t decide whether I want to read it or not!! πŸ˜‚
Aw.. well done on reading 3 books for Harry Potter!! It is a big series!! There do get a lot bigger after the first three though!! I would love to reread them at one point!!
Yes the lunar chronicles is great!!
I definitely know that feeling where you have a book on your TBR for ages and over time you want to read it a little less and less. It’s weird, right!?!?
    Great post!! πŸ™‚

Caraval was just really not what I was expecting πŸ˜‚ idk maybe they get better but I just don’t have time for that *sassy click*
I knowwww – I’m looking forward to & not looking forward to reading the next one at the same time πŸ˜‚
YES! I can’t wait to read winter! I loved princess winter in Cress (what little we got of her lol) so I’m really excited XD
      Thank you πŸ’•

I kind of feel the same way about The Hunger Games, actually. And yay, you read book three of Harry Potter? That one was so fun.
For some reason I’ve just never read The Lunar Chronicles. It sounds like a great series, but I’m not sure it’s for me.

I’ve loved reading the first couple of HP books – they’re so nostalgic!
I think it’s a really good series but if it’s not for you then it’s not for you!

I think the hunger games would be good as a reread if you read the book when it first came out because it was so exciting & new then but I read it when YA has gone in a completely different direction & massively upped its game so I unfortunately didn’t enjoy it as much. Hope you enjoy your reread though! πŸ’•

I’ll definitely make it a priority next year! XD I have them so there’s really no excuse!

The lunar chronicles are definitely worth a read – Scarlett’s my favourite but most people prefer Cress – it’s just nice hearing about a series that gets better rather than worse πŸ˜‚
