My 2019 in books

Hey happy bookworms!

How could we possibly end 2019 without a Goodreads wrap up?! I’m here to satisfy all your nosiness & to tell you exactly how this year’s gone! Honestly, looking at some of these books I’m like was this this year?! But here we go – let’s get shocked while learning weird facts about my reading habits!

TOTALS

I read 32,793 pages across 95 books

Last year I read 50 books so my goal for this year was 60 & um…how on Earth did I read 95?! So yeah πŸ˜‚ I completed my goal with 158%

SHORTEST BOOK
96 pages Welcome to Hell, Briggy Bundy! by Mina Elwell
Welcome to Hell, Briggy Bundy!
LONGEST BOOK (how did I manage?!)

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

MY AVERAGE RATING FOR 2019

3.5

HIGHEST RATED ON GOODREADS (I don’t know why 😣)
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas at 4.68 stars average

A Court of Mist and Fury (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #2)

FIRST READ

The cheerleaders by Kara Thomas
The Cheerleaders
That last chapter…
Yeah, wow – I got a little confused by all the characters but it was good, really good!
*Little me is so cringe*
LAST READ

Sadie by Courtney Summers

SadieThis was a really great book!
Right away, the style of it really worked & you found out stuff through both sides of the story that fitted together nicely. I also, really liked the end, a bit of ominous mystery.

There were a couple of reveals that for me fell a bit flat, when a new detail’s been revealed I want to feel that click into place & for this I didn’t get that. I guess it’s party because it’s not that kinda book but I think there were definitely moments when the reveals could’ve been more.

Anyway, it’s not a big deal & I really did love reading this! I also managed to guess some of it before it was revealed & I felt so proud of myself πŸ˜‚

*Me now is still cringe but we’ll say a little less so*

BEST BOOKS (In no particular order & also not chronological so idk what I’m even doing anymore)

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1)Muse of Nightmares (Strange the Dreamer, #2)HeartlessToffeeScarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2)Dumplin' (Dumplin', #1)Heartstopper: Volume One (Heartstopper, #1)King's Cage (Red Queen #3)Chasing Eden A MemoirCode Name VerityHowl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle, #1)

So if you take anything away from this post then it’s go look these up on goodreads & put them on your TBR NOW!

WORST BOOKS (Sorry to throw these under the bus but it has to be said)

The SirenThe Surface BreaksTiny Little BrotherWhat I Couldn't Tell YouMoth Girls

Note my disdain for mermaid books, although I did read Sea Witch by Sarah Henning & really enjoy it so woooo conquered that!

Well, happy new year guys! Hoped you enjoyed this little wrap up post for 2019 – see you in 2020!

You read 95?!?! That’s amazing!! I read 61 books this year so I achieved past my goodreads goal too *high five* but I kind of wish it was 60 books so it was round. lol.
I would love to read Heartless, Toffee and Code Name Verity (as I’ve mentioned before) so I’m glad to hear you liked them all!!
I haven’t heard a lot of good things about Before The Surface Breaks which is a shame because the cover is very pretty!!

Of course! Howl’s was the best! I rewatched the movie too & loved it (it’s like the only movie/book duo that I 100% love both of them!)
