I should have read that book tag

Hey happy bookworms!

I have been so insanely busy recently, my work is just piling up into a huge heaping mess (also does anyone else think piling is a really weird spelling?) Anyway I just wanted to take it easy today and reflect on my reading failures (you know me, full of positivity!) So let’s hop into this to see what I’m missing out on!

Thank you so much to Abi @ Scribbles & stories and Emma @ AFCTL for tagging me (these are from March & April so I’m not horribly late this time – go me!)

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post.
  • Link to the creator’s blog in your post (thanks books nest)
  • Answer the questions below

A book that a certain friend is always telling you to read

I would have said HP but I finally finished that last month! So let’s have a look at my goodreads recommendations:

40612896. sy475 19351043. sx318 sy475

A couple I wanna read are: Emma recommended our Bloody Pearl by D.N. Bryn & Vaishnavi recommended Nimona by Noelle Stevenson.

A book that’s been on your TBR forever and yet you still haven’t read it

20618110Solitaire has been on my TBR the longest & since I absolutely loved heartstopper I really should get round to reading it sometime soon…

A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing

Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #2)Last year I did a really good job of finishing up any unfinished series so this is the only one that I’m midway through & as soon as quarantine’s over I’m planning on reading it 🙂

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but have never actually read

I read Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen & it’s like the only classic I’ve liked so I really wanna be basic and read pride & prejudice ✌

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read

19547856EVERYONE read this a couple years back & I did not catch that bandwagon but I would like to eventhough I’d be very late 😅

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but just haven’t picked up yet

8306857Maybe Divergent? I really liked the movie & I quite want to read it but it’s also that kinda 2012 dystopian era where the books weren’t that good 😂

A book you see all over Instagram but haven’t picked up yet

41150487. sy475 I had this on hold at my library but then lockdown came in 😭 So I’m waiting with bated breath for them to reopen so I can get my hands on this!

Thanks for reading this quick little post! I’m just really hoping libraries reopen soon although honestly I have a lot of books that I need to read already smh

I’m not tagging anyone but put your answers down in the comments!

NOOO READ THE DIVERGENT SEIRES! And he extra book ‘Four’ 😂 Seriously, there is nothing 2012 awful dystopian era (now THAT was awful) about it, like it’s one of my favourite dystopians (it doesn’t quite top The Maze Runner haha) and you must read!! 😂 Also Pride and Prejudice is quite a handful, it took me almost a month to read and I didn’t get into it till I was at least 3/4 into the book and even then it was slow burn romance (which I HATEEE, like just kiss already?! 😂) and most of the characters were so snotty and selfish that- okay I’m really not selling this book am I?! Read at your own risk that’s all I’m saying! 😂

Yes for sure! Please let me know if you like it, and let me know when your libraries open so we can buddy read Fallen (I just remembered now) 😂
I totally get you! P&P is kinda the perfect bucket list (readers’ edition) item haha!
I’ve been really good, so glad online school is over as I’m reading so much more now 📚 No it’s totally fine! I understand, I didn’t blog for a week and a half because just *uh* sometimes 😂

Our Bloody Pearl sounds AMAZING! As a hardcore siren/mermaid lover, I can’t believe I have yet to read it! Added it to my TBR! If you liked the Divergent movie, I think you’ll enjoy the book! The writing style is very simplistic, making it a really light, easy read. It’s really action-packed and fast-paced as well (similar to the movie)!

Haha glad I could help! Or more correctly that Emma could help 😂
Ooo that’s good because it gets a lot of mixed reviews – I’m always down for an easy read though!

oh yes Solitaire has been on my TBR for a while but I might be picking it up next month !! I’m interested to see what Osman’s debut is like !!
I haven’t read Simon versus the homo sapiens agenda either so *high five* on that but it does look really cute !!
Aw… that such a shame about Red, White and Royal Blue, so close yet so far !!

Omg I have Red, White & Royal Blue on hold too and it was literally in transit when they shut!! How odd. Although I’m hopeless and still need to read most of the library books that I have out. I loved The Grace Year though and am seriously hoping to read the rest over the next few weeks then get blogging again properly 😊 Im terrible at reading classics although I do want to change that this year… hopefully…if I ever at least start catching up on some of the books that I’m desperate to read. And yeah piling does seem oddly spelt – it looks almost like pilling 🤔

I really wanna read the grace year it looks so good! I had so many books on hold too it’s honestly so sad 😦
Yeah, I’ve tried a couple classics & they just don’t really work for me they just seem so unrelatable? And I want characters I can have connections with 🤷‍♀️
Can’t wait to see your posts when you come back 😉

I highly recommend it. It even gave me Hunger Games vibes at times.
Aww well I hope they’re all waiting for you when you get back!! I managed to pick up two of them before they closed but I have a few too although I have no idea where I am in the queue for most of them.
I get that, it’s good to connect with characters. I’ve always found them dull but idk if that’s because I’ve always had to study them and not been reading them by choice. Like Great Expectations was ok at first…until it took forever to read and I wanted to get back to my own books 😂
        Aww thanks ❤️❤️

I’m so glad you had fun with this tag! 😄 Simon VS is a really cute contemporary book, but I’m not sure I’d recommend Divergent. You hit the nail on the head with the whole “bad 2012 dystopia” thing 😂

I need to read Solitaire too! I also love Heartstopper and Radio Silence was great.

    • El says:

Yessss! I really wanna watch the Simon vs movie as well (but only after the book like the good little bookworm I am 😝)
Yeah I might just read it for the heck of it but we’ll see, I mean you definitely won’t see me rushing online to get it anytime soon 😂
I haven’t read radio silence either so that’s another I need to read!
