Recreating Book Covers (Ft. Ash @ Starlight Strands)

Hey Happy Bookworms!

I’ve got a really fun post today that I’ve been looking forward to for ages!

So I saw May @ my 1st chapter recreate the lunar chronicles digitally & I LOVED the idea! I immediately wanted to try it out but in watercolour & then I thought what would make this 100 times better? Collabing with Ash of course!

Descendant of the Crane by Joan He

I absolutely love the art style of descendant of the crane & before quarantine came in I was doing a textiles project on set design for Mulan so this totally reminded me of that which I unfortunately can’t do anymore 😦
Compared to the original, my colours are a little washed out but I love how it turned out! I definitely had a lot of fun drawing in all the lily pads and water lilies 😄

The Enchanted Wood by Enid Blyton

Throwing it back to childhood! I loved doing all the colours on this one although I was in two minds about fine lining the leaves or not, I went back & forth but in the end I just left in? Still not sure 😅
This one was a lot harder to reproduce & I had to make some changes like making the people just silhouettes (I’m not trynna be here for days drawing tiny people) and getting rid of the white/magical (fairy lights maybe?) altogether because just no. That would have been so hard to do smh

So, how do you think I did? 😂 Some elements definitely went better than others but all in all I think they turned out decent 🙂
